Hey folks I am interested in a Beretta O/U and I came across a good deal (I think) on a new 20 ga White Wing for $1299.

This gun is not listed in the 2006 Beretta catalog. What do people know of this gun...? When was it last made?

Does it have the space between the two barrels...?

Is it functuanally the same as say the white/black onyx (ie: is it just cosmetic differences or is it a cheap low end knock off that won't have the Beretta "swing").

I'm a left handed shooter does this gun have the right hand barrel "canter"?

I'm looking for a good upland game gun with some hope of shooting the odd trap, skeet with it.

Thanks in advance for your valued assistance!

Beretta introduced the Whitewing 12- and 20-gauge shotguns early in 2000 as an entry-level shotgun at a reasonable price. I remember seeing them here new for about $1,800. The gun has a ventilated top rib but no side ribs, so yes, there is space between the barrels. Functionally it is the same as any 686, but do not expect the same level of fit and finish as more expensive members of the family. It will handle and feel like a Beretta. Most Berettas have some cast to the stock, left hand stocks can be ordered, but are not really cheap. The guns were available with 26 and 28 inch barrels, I prefer the 28's. The gun will work well for your stated purposes, but the 28 inch barrels will be better at the range, while not hurting upland hunting at all. A review of the gun can be found here: http://www.gunweek.com/2002/feature0620.html

Scharfg, that is a good price for a Whitewing, i have a 12 gauge Whitewing for sale for $1400, and I was told that I was about $300 low by a couple of different places. It's a good buy. You won't regret buying it.
