Beretta's: I think mine are in a bad mood !

There isn't a manufacturer out there who hasn't produced a dud now and then. I was tempted by a DT-11 but at that kind of money I would just up the budget and get a Krieghoff or Kolar. I'd really like a K20 Pro Sporter with 20/28 ga 30" barrels (Etchen's only had a 20 with 32" barrels) and will actively look for one this summer. I'm planning on retiring in the next year and am hoping to spend my winters in Florida shooting clay targets. .

I also consider the Caesar Geurini, Zoli, and Blaser lines to be an upgrade over Browning & Beretta.

I actually decided to greatly reduce my firearm inventory, and as a result, I am going to order myself a K20 Sporter with both 20 and 28 gauge 30"barrels , paid for by selling off the surplus firearms. I considered the Pro Sporter, but I prefer the flat rib. A word of warning, the prices vary greatly from dealer to dealer, about $3k on the two barrel set. Ordering a Sporter with the adjustable comb actually costs more than a Pro Sporter, but it's the only way to get what I want .

I also sold off most of my other guns with the thought I'd just have a couple that I enjoyed shooting. I only ended up buying the Beretta's so I'd have something to shoot this summer ! The 690 is actually a surprise as it shoots very well and is extremely comfortable (and I actually like the matte black finish and splash of orange). The Onyx Pro was a gift for my son so I'll only shoot it a couple of times a year and the A400 was an impulse buy that I justified by saying it will be a great "intro" gun for new shooters that I take to the range.

Stubblejumper: have you decided who you are buying yours from ? The Pro Sporter I looked at had what looked to be more of a medium rib rather than a true high rib. It felt nice but I want 30", not 32" barrels. Hero's Arms in Vermont has a used (99.7%) K20 20/28 with 30" for just under 11K US but it doesn't have the adjustable comb. I think I might do a road trip to Pacific Sporting Arms East in Michigan just to see & handle a few.

A K gun won't make me shoot any better but I have always wanted one ................

I am just waiting for confirmation on the order, but it should be placed next week. I shouldered a K20 last Saturday, and I need the adjustable comb. Adding in the comb install, duty and import fees, the cost of that used gun would be similar to a new gun from the dealers with the lower quotes.

My 391 has not been cleaned since 2003. It is now mainly used for hunting or very bad weather clay shooting. A proper soaking in BreakFree and subsequent applications before bad weather has kept it going. BTW, the front bead is gone many years ago. It still nails those so far birds that one can drop the gun when it hits and kills. So bead are NOT important! I had a DT11 first series with EELL wood. It out patterned my DT10L. Recoil was better. I got some LM chokes from Beretta Italy. They had not yet had the extended ones. They patterned better than a well know name in black. My Renato Gamba Daytona K13 has everything that the DT11 had plus flat threaded chokes that will not loosen. Without the gimmick weights, the weight is between ones hands. It is like driving a F1 compared to a stock car. If you come to the Montreal area, I can give you a try shooting a number of clays with it. If you like it, be patient and expect to pay more than the P gun. The tolerances on this shotgun are so tight that I had to learn how to assemble it!
