I was out at the range with a new to me bergara B-14 HMR in 6.5 creedmoor and the accuracy was not that great. I did a search on the internet and someone noted that they spray thier textured paint everywhere including the aluminum bedding pillars. Took the stock of and yes the textured paint was covering the bedding pillars. Took my wifes nail polish remover and some steel wool and was able to scrub that paint off in a few minutes. Put it back together and brought it to the range today. Groups shrank to sub moa at 200 yards.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing that. When I had my b14r hmr stock off to change the trigger, the bedding was not painted. I recall it was bright aluminum.

I think the bedding of a rifle should be done before even firing a shot. Fundamentals of a rifle. Some of the Bergara barrels that I had started quite lousy accuracy wise but turned very accurate after 30-50 shots. Same ammo. Had three 223 1/8 Bergara barrels fitted two years ago on 2x 223 1x22-250. These shot really well from the start.

Mine shoots about MOA out of the box. But I've had the stock come loose twice. Maybe this paint issue contributed? I will take it down one day and check. Thanks.

I noted this as well on my HMR in 308 - now I know how to deal with it! Thanks!
