After selling a couple of semis I want to buy a rifle for more long range precision shooting. I am a beginner and am not interesting in building up a rifle.

I have narrowed down my choices to a 6.5 creedmoor...either the Tikka T3X CTR, or the Bergara B14HMR.

I would appreciate pros and cons and your personal choice of the two from Gunnutz who have tried these rifles.

thanks!!

I haven't fired a Tikka, and you will get a lot of recommendations for Tikka.

But I do own the Bergara in 6.5 and it is a very accurate factory gun. No complaints. It's my favorite rifle to shoot.

One pic ^^^ is load development with the B14.

The other pic is a group at 900 meters.

I’ve owned both, a couple of each now actually. I will say that the overall build quality and finishing of the CTR seems a bit higher. If you plan to upgrade the stock later, I’d get the CTR. However if you don’t want to upgrade the stock down the road I’d go the Bergara route. Rem 700 pattern trigger and bases. Adjustable cheek, AICs pattern mags. The Tikka mags are insanely priced. Can’t really go wrong with either.

Tikka. Great from the factory. Trigger spring upgrade is $20. Drop it in a chassis sometime and you are set.
