Hi guys, I came upon some Berger 185 VLD's and was thinking of trying them out. I am wondering what your experiences are with these. I want to shoot them out of my PGW Coyote in 308, 1 in 10 Krieger. Is the twist in this barrel sufficient to stabilize them? I have a large supply of Varget on hand to use. Any thoughts, suggestions and ideas are appreciated. Thanks alot.

Its more than enough twist to stabilize them.

I load 42.3 gr. Varget with the 190 SMK in a 1-10 twist, if that helps.

I would go with the 185 BT Long Range over the VLD. It has a slightly higher BC and it should be a lot less finicky about its distance to the lands. That's one thing I like about the SMK; I don't have to chase the lands with them as the throat erodes.

i shot the berger 185 vld this summer at the canadian nationals with good results,my load was 44.5 of varget lapua cases, work up the load its on the warm side.rate of twist was 1 in 12,hope this helps. Darin
