Has anyone tried this bullet? Or any of the classic hunter bullets in other calibers? Please share your experiences accuracy wise, seating depths- was it picky? I have a load with the 95 vld hunting that shoots 1/2 MOA in my 6 A.I. But I built the gun on a short action and should have used a long action, when I load up the magazine the first round sticks in the bottom of the magazine as it tappers and gets narrower further down. From what I have read- the classic hunter is suppose to be less picky about seating depth for accuracy, and that I would be more likely to touch the lands while still at a useable mag length.

Thanks

That's the reason I use them almost exclusively. Check the BCs, you don't lose much in the classic design and they shoot very well at variable seating depths. In my opinion as far as using berger in a factory rifle it's really a no brainer. The vld/ hybrid bullets I reserve for rifles that are specifically built and throated for them.

Thanks for the input, and you’re exactly right- you don’t lose much is B.C. in comparison to the vld hunting, I punched some numbers Into bullet flight and the differences at 500 yards were very very small. I’m thinking I may have to try them. Do you know if they are designed the same way as the VLD/ hunting to enter an animal 3” inches or so and then come part dispersing their energy? Or are they a bit more solid of a bullet?

That's the way all berger hunting bullets are designed to perform. Go in a few inches then create havoc.

Good to hear, just out of curiosity- do you think the bullet would work on coyotes as well? That was kind of my plan with this load- deer/coyotes. A do all round

Do you want to keep the pelt? It might not be the most fur friendly option, I forsee large exit wounds if the bullet expands...

If you just want a dead song dog I see no reason why it wouldn't work.
