I was emailed some data from berger for my .260 rem for there 120,130 and 140 vld's. I have been working with the 130 with so so results. My question is does anyone find there data to be a little low? I have been trying R19 and there max load is 43 grns for around 2700 fps. I am only getting around 2600 fps with this load. Nosler lists 45 grns for there 140 Partition at 2797 fps. What are your thoughts?

I was hitting around 3000 fps with 43.5grns of IMR 4350 and 142grn Sierras, this was far too fast and far too hot a load to be messing around with.

Something in the neighborhood of 2920 FPS (should equal around 41grns of the IMR 4350) should be the sweet spot for the Berger's.

I got my hands on some RL17 that I am going to give a whirl. Another CGN member that I shoot with was getting 2950 with 40.2grns of the RL17 with the 140 Berger's jammed .010 and getting .2ish MOA groups at 100M

barrel length?

I am having excellent results using 40gr of Varget, pushing the 130gr VLD's. You have to use magnum primers with this load though.
2775 fps and very consistant.
Of course it goes without saying if you are going to try this load build up to it safely.

I load 210gr VLD's in my 30-06 and I found that Berger's load data for bullets in the 200-220gr weight range was very conservative compared to my other five reloading manuals. I worked up loads to almost 4 full grains over Berger's max, which was still within published data for other bullet manufacturers, and have had no pressure signs. I think they're just on the conservative side with their load data.
