Lots of guys use them in FTR competition. Actions don't matter, barrels require nothing more than 12" twist (This twist is even fine for 210's) Most FTR shooters go long with their barrels, so 28-30" is the norm.
So far I've stuck w/ Berger BT, over VLD bullets. BC's tend to be pretty much the same, and they tend to be dead easy to tune. think 185 BT, or 210 BT. Jump, or jam into the lands- I've had both work equally well.
