If any of you were thinking of using your berger vld's for deer hunting this fall, I thought I'd let you know that they worked great for me. Small entrance hole but lots of damage inside and two inch exit hole. One was shot at 50 yards and one at 200. Bullet was 130gr 6.5. Great to have one bullet that works good for target and game.

They are packaging them in bright pink boxes and they are putting notes in there to remind reloaders hunters of their purported hunting performance.

I have just experienced (today) similar results using a 155 grain Silver Scenar. I shot the deer at 125 yards...1.5" exit hole on the far rib cage. Also did the same thing last year on a much larger deer at 200 yards. There have been conflicting reports about Scenars on other forums, but so far these bullets for me are just the ticket for deer.

Be careful with light game such as coyotes.....I shot one in the chest at 200 yards and tracked the blood trial for over 300 yards thru dense bush before I found her. I was shooting the 105 grain Bergers in my 6BR. Haven't completely given up but I know that a 87 grain Hornady V-max would have dropped her in her tracks.

Shot this guy at 12 yards.

Small in, but very big exit wound. Went about 20 yards then piled up. There was a piece of meat on the ground from the exit wound. The side that is visible is the exit side.

30-06 with 168gr VLD over top of 59.6grs of H4350. Still waiting for the right whitetail to try it on.

125 yards and 200 yards? Not very sporting of you Terry. I didn't think you had a scope that would focus that close:p

when there are dozens of suitable bullets designed for expansion and penetration, while giving more than good enough accuracy for hunting, I question the use of a match bullet, expansion or not, for hunting. Been there, done that, learned my lesson. I couldnt trust a Berger or Scenar to give me reliable performance day in day out
