I have just started testing some SMK's for my 7mm-08, 168's , and so far at close range are working good.I am getting 2620 ft/sec at the muzzle and groups look promising.

I feel that once I get past 7-800 yards that the Sierra's with their lower BC may be a little difficult to be consistent with. The ballistic charts say I will still be at 1200 ft/sec at 1000, but this may be cutting it close.

I am wondering if anybody has tried the Bergers with 7mm-08 , and what results they had.

The 168smk's are really at their best out to 300 metres, much beyond 600 yards they fail quickly, it has to do with the bullet design, Brian Litz has a section on this in his book.

also see this http://www.shootershaven.net/MarkPic/CGN/DynamicInstability.pdf

If you want to go farther then you need a higher BC bullet such as a 155 Palma, or a VLD.
