Well its been 6 months since I asked your advise on a Shotgun for sporting clays, so I thought I'd let you know how things went.

I ended up with a 687 Silver Pigeon II Sporting, 30" 12 ga. Since then I've put 4000 rds through it. Mostly 5-stand. I'm fortunate, in that the fellow that I shoot with (mentor??!!), is a very avid shooter and gave me some great advise right from the start. ie. Choke restrictions, mount, etc.

Things have come together very well and I am quite satisfied with my progress. Your suggestions in August were taken to heart and I have been very pleased with the 687, although I do look with envy upon my friends Perrazi's (2 - 20's a 12 and a 28 with wood that I would sell my soul for)

He has made mention that perhaps one of his 20 ga. 2000's might be for sale this spring to a certain new shooter.( one can only hope)

Anyway, thanks again for your help.

This damn game is just TOOOOOO MUCH FUN and deffinatly addictive.

Winter is way too long in Edmonton (especially right now, if you've been watching our weather) and although we've managed to get out a cpl of times in the last month, my finger is itching for spring.

Regards

Abe

Thanks for the update. Good choice on the gun. I've owned a two Beretta 68 series guns and think very highly of them.

Having spent some time in Edmonton I don't blame you for not venturing out too much in the winter. Even here in Ontario I'm not out if the mercury drops much below -20. Cold weather clay shooting brings certain challenges. The guns don't fit as well because of the extra clothing and when it gets too cold shells start acting up. As much as I love clay shooting there are days when it is better to sit by the fire.

Glad you're having some fun with it ... kind of addictive, eh ? :D

I know what you mean about the long winters ... much the same here too... and a lot more snow. I don't mind it too much until -5C. Below that, I've graduated to be pretty much a candy-ass. And glad to hear there's another sucker for really nice wood out there. Welcome to the Club !
