Buddy of mine purchased a Berretta 400 Series shotgun. Come to find the plastic recoil spring sleeve is cracked. Is this an easy part to get in Canada? I know there's Stoeger Canada which is under Berretta, just not sure if they sell parts, or if they can order it or if the whole friggin gun has to go back to Italy to get this fixed.

I see it's readily available from online stores in the US for $8.

Stoegers does sell parts but unless they've upped their game since the last time I tried them it may be weeks before you get the part. Ask if they have the part in stock before ordering and when you can expect shipping.

Brownell's has Beretta parts but they are listing the A400 recoil spring sleeve on backorder.

My choice for Beretta parts is Colegun in New Hampshire. Their site shows they have them in stock. Colegun ships quickly and to Canada but the shipping isn't cheap but it's better than having a gun you can't use. Colegun isn't a sponsor but google the name and you'll easily find them.

So you're saying there won't be a customs issue shipping a shotgun part over the border into Canada??????

The first place your buddy needs to call is Stoeger Canada or visit your local LGS that sells Beretta. Stoeger sells non-catalogued Beretta parts/accessories to the public. Anything else in the catalogue needs to be ordered through a dealer. If he purchased the gun new, it will be under warranty but he may need to send it in. They've replaced forearm caps twice for me out of warranty. If the story is convincing, they would likely do the same for a plastic spring sleeve.

From my experience they don't often return calls to the public right away until you get in contact with a human. Once you do, take down their name, phone number and email so you can follow up. If the part is in stock, they'll have it out to you within a week or two. Might be better off contacting their customer service/warranty department first.

I've also been there in person to drop off something for warranty. The parts are located in the same location of their secured facility and can be seen from behind the counter.

I don't normally recommend this, but try their e-mail as well as calling. I got a much better response through e-mail, vs my 12+ voicemails. Yes, that bad.

I bought a catalogue part through them... Maybe an exception? I donno.

The only customs issue on this side is HST. Never been a problem on the U.S. side all the parts I've ordered have been under $100.

You can try Stoeger but their service is so piss poor that it's hardly worth the bother. I ordered a part from Stoeger and despite their promise to "get it in the mail right away" it took 8 weeks. After 4 weeks of Stoeger BS I ordered the same part from Coles and had it in 11 days.

Another vote for "Coleguns", actually Cole Fine Guns & Gunsmithing. They are located in Harpswell, Maine and Naples Florida.

If you can get through Stoeger's switchboard and speak to Peter, you might be able to arrange for pick-up of your part at their Whitby location.

Alternatively, Gagnon's in Whitby carries a small selection of Beretta parts ... and can get them from Stoeger reasonably quickly. Not exactly next door,
but they do (or at least did) have a good working relationship with Stoeger.
