I see berry bullets makes a plated 150 gr flat points 30-30 bullet that can be loaded up to 1700 fps. I have a very nice DU NEF 30-30 that needs some playing with.

Just wondering if anyone here has tried these out and what do you think of them for building a cheap plinking load with? What's are you loading it with and how's it working?

Thanks for any input.

IMR3031 works very well with .310" 165gr gas checked bullets. I expect it would work OK with 150gr bullets too.

Thank you for the information guys. Unique is impossible to find in these parts! But I think I will try the bullets out. I have 4227, 4895 and 700x on hand and it looks like they will work for reduced loads. I will try to find Unique as well.

I may eventually pick up a mold for it as I have all the casting equipment but thought this might be an economical way to go for some plinking loads.

Are you using any kind no of filler? Or does Unique fill the case well?

Unique hardly fills the case at all so you have to be careful not to double charge. It requires no filler.

Some guys use trail boss because it will fill the case but I use unique in a lot of other calibers as well so I've always stuck with it, it's pretty versatile.

Edited to add: Berry's recommends using cast bullet data for plated bullets and my lyman cast manual says 150 grain lead bullet starting load 16.4 grains imr4227 gives 1600fps, max is 21 grains @ 1985 fps. That might get you started.
