best 1-4x scope for an AR under $400

For strictly under 400, I would agree with the Millett DMS.

However, I would save a little more and get a Vortex PST 1-4.

If the scope is going to spend most of its time on 1x then save even more and get a Trijicon.:)

I run the Vortex Viper PST 1-4 on my 10.5" and love it. I was running an Aimpoint H1 but switched that to my shotgun.

The Millett DMS 1-4 is quite good and we sell a number of them.

There is a difference between the two though, hense why I run the Vortex.

The Falcon 1.5x5x30mm is a great alternative to the Millet. It's highly regarded by the members on the board who own them. I just bought one but haven't had the opportunity to use it yet.

My choice, 1-4x Trijicon Accupoint. Most underrated optic out there.

Definitely agree, almost bought a Millet DMS but there was a Trijicon Accupoint beside it to compare. There is a major difference in the clarity of the glass. Had to go with the Trijicon in-spite of the extra $600 difference.

Can you tell me how much longer the DMS is over the PST? I think the PST is around 10" but couldn't find a length for the DMS on their website. Looking for something in this range, but compact wins.

Thanks!

for a $399 ,there is no other option, than leatherwood 1-4x24 cmr ,v. clear glass, good reticle,(from what i know in 2 colours-green and red),really good quality scope, I am using this scope on my Stag 2TR-E and so far it works flawlessly,...
