Looking for some advice for an upcoming scope purchase. I will be using it for target only. I like MOA. I have both FFP and SFP currently and like both. I usually shoot at known distances. It will be used on a 6.5 creedmoor build to start but may get moved around. So my current scope experiences have mainly been Vortex, SWFA, and a couple bushnell models. I am looking to spend around $1000 ish and would like my magnification range to be in the 6-24x50 range as I enjoy the higher mag for shooting paper at 100 and 200. I have been looking on the EE as I'm not opposed to used. I'm looking for some good bang for my buck and with limited time behind a lot of different brands I need your help. Here is a list of stuff I'm considering.

Athlon Midas Tac 6-24x50 FFP MOA
Nikon Black
Vortex Gen 1 PST FFP
Sightron S3 6-24x50

If I'm missing something let me know. Thanks in advance.

I don’t have experience with Sightron or Athlon, but I have looked through many Vortex scopes and a few Nikon blacks.
I would really say that if you’re willing to spend 1000$ and the Gen 1 PST is on your list, I would really try to push it to the 1200$ range and pick up a Gen 2 pst. It’s a completely different animal than the Gen 1. The Nikon Black IMO is a really nice scope for the money too. With Nikon not making scopes anymore there are some good deals to be had on them. I would take a 6-24 FFP Nikon black 6-24 over a PST Gen 1. But again, my opinion only!

I have Leupold, vortex,Bushnell, sightron and burris in the $1000 price range - I love my Burris veracity but only use them at the range so can't comment on how robust they are but I have them on two 300 win mag and a 6.5 creed and no issues

I am a diehard fan of S&B scopes. in the last couple of years, i have diversified myself going to other brands.

As a compromise of good quality.
I recommend Swarzoski scopes.

Also interested in this topic, how does the Midas Tac compare with the new vortex strike eagle in terms of glass clarity, chromatic aberration, tactile turrets etc.

For reference I already have a sightron siii 6-24 FFP scope. I don’t like that it has no zero stop. But nothing to compare in terms of glass quality.

I shoot rimfire 100 to 300 mtrs + with ;

Nikon FX 1000 6-24X50 illuminated
Leupold VX3i 8.5-25x50
Bushnell Forge 4.5-27x50

All FFP and Milrad

All are good I just like the Bushnell Forge best .
Most forgiving eye relief , best target reticle , great glass
and you can spot your .17 shots @ 150 mtrs +..
