Best 12.5" barrel pump shotgun?

Hello,

I bumped into a fellow at the range who was shooting a black, Parkerized, synthetic stocked pump action shotgun with a 12.5 inch barrel and a magazine that met the end of the barrel. Awesome gun, with ghost ring sights on it. I tried it and really liked it. He said it was a Norinco.

I have seen many makes of these so-called short barreled shotguns, some from Grizzly, Norinco and some Turkish manufacture.

What, in your opinion, is best for this length of barrel? My needs are reliability and decent craftsmanship. I prefer bluing to parkerization as well, but not a neccessity.

What can you recommend?

Is Dlask still making barrels? North Eastern Arms is bringing out some 870 short barrels soon and maybe they will be closer to original diameter then the dlask's which are a bit on the thick side.

Nothing wrong with a Dominion Arms tube mag with the 12.5" barrel.

Canada Ammo imports Chinese(Norinco) guns under the Dominion Arms Brand.
The Grizzly is one of their models.

the easiest way i can put it is this:
decide which you want - an heirloom piece or a made in China tool that you can abuse. if youre the type of guy that buys Snap-on ratchets, go buy the Dlask. if you buy Mastercraft or Craftsman, go buy the Grizzly.

as an owner of a Dlask barreled 870P and two Grizzlies (12.5 and 8.5), while the former is clearly a nicer gun I have yet to be convinced that its worth over 3x the price of the latter. sure it provides vastly more pride of ownership, but none of my 870s have ever failed to go bang - whether its a Wingmaster, Police, Express or Chinese clone. the 870 never was a 'precision weapon' and theyre not rocket science to manufacture - they were designed to be cheap and easy to manufacture.

I was really disappointed with the last batch of grizzlies, feed issues etc. I bought a mint 870 ringmaster and put a 12.5 inch grizzly Barrel. Awesome

Alright I may as well post this here as it regards to making a 12.5" shotgun.

Not everyone likes a right hand gun.

but they are sold out now.

As of this writing, I'd only consider the DLASK for any shotgun less than 14"; I've owned all of the short varieties from different makes at one point or another, you can't compare. Dlask 870 = Remington + Dlask.

no you cant compare: both Grizzlies i own have cleaner chambers than the Dlask. i should not have to have the chamber polished on a $300 barrel, when a complete gun+barrel can come from China with better finish.
