The quad rail is actually fine, if you need to minimize weight just get the DD rail for it. As for the barrel you know it depends on what version, also keep in mind the criteria you determine. But to say the HK416 in 10.4 which weighs what again (D10RS: 3.020 kg (6.66 lb)that is hardly a heavy rifle in any circumstances. That does not seem like a heavy rifle to me for the added benefits you are getting.

Yes, the HK416 is a nice gun. Just not $8k nice for the amount I shoot (YMMV). An LWRC, Adcor or PWS is probably more in-line with what my idea of a reasonably-priced black rifle is. That's why I sold my HK416. No regrets - it went to a great home, and I'd rather see it getting used than sitting in a safe.

So after lots of thinking and research and handling and shooting some more AR's I decided to put of a pistol AR for now but I want one of those Adcor's BAD!! However I will be picking up a Daniel Defence DDM4V5 for my first AR. Im not going to contribute to the gas vs. piston debate because i still love the theoretical benefits of the piston system but until it becomes more popular and standardized Im going to enjoy a DI gas gun!
