A Browning Buckmark deluxe model with the shaped grip is a great gun and easy to handle was and is my wife's favorite, very reliable and not too heavy with a fiber front sight making targets easy to see.
A good High standard is hard to find and mags even harder..and I may say more expensiveIn order of my preference:
A good used High Standard
Buckmark
Ruger.
Actually Browning says do not do a complete clean I believe but we clean around the action near where the roads go into the chamber with alcohol and the bore and not much else.. I don't loosen the screw to remove the barrel at all as it can work lose because of aluminium casting. But put light grease and or oil on the slides and it has been over 45000 rounds and still shoots as well today as new.How are the Buckmarks's cleaning wise? I've been thinking about one lately too...
Not to upset the GSG guys but how many can you take out of the box and not have to add parts to to make them work well..I put 10-15 thousand rounds through my gsg 1911.i put every bulk 22lr there is and it never get any failures .I clean it every 500 rounds and runs like a champion.
Browning 1911-22 is amazing. Small but not too small, and only weighs one pound with a full mag.
My wife is 5'2" and it's like a normal gun in her hands, and I'm 6'2" and I can still hold it without my pinky coming off the bottom.
Don't buy anything else without holding this, it's an amazing gun. Stoppage, free, too.

We can't get the compact here because it would be Prohib, but the regular "long" model is just fine for Restricted.
And the last time I checked it was north of $1000.00That is the best .22 pistol, but impossible to find. Literally nobody has one in stock that looks like that![]()
