So I've been using RCBS dies for reloading rifle cartridges without a problem. Enter hollow point bullets and now I have a problem. I guess the weaker hollow point is a bit fragile. I'm leaving a circular indentaton around the bullet near the tip.

What kind of seating die are guys using? I'm really not interested in modifying my RCBS die.

alot of the site sponsors carry them and most likely have 223 in stock i would check them if you cant find locally

Got my redding dies in .308 from Prophet River. Good service from the guy I spoke on the phone with, was willing to put the time in to get the purchase up and over for me, really nice to deal with. I needed a whole whack of small stuff as I'm just starting out - he was literally going through the shelves and pieced together a set for me.
They will get my business again.

my lee dies did this as well with varmint grenades.

I cut down a eraser, unscrewed everything and place it in the end, and modified my seating depth as such, no more trouble with circular seating rings.

Forster Ultra Seater. Get it direct from Sinclair International. Basically the same as a Redding micrometer seater for considerably less dough.

Even better- Give Peter a Call over at Hirsch Precision. He'll have that in stock, and you'l getr it quicker from this side of the border.

I love Forster seaters.

FWIW, it sounds to me like you have a whole lot of neck tension on you sized cases, requiring ecessive pressure from the seater to seat the bullet. You might consider treating yourself to a Forster sizing die too.
