Best 22LR ammo for gophers

With all the reports of thousands of gophers, I took enough ammo for 1000+.
The weather was not friendly . . . wind, rain and cool to cold.
Then on day six I saw one and got in to position. Ranged at 86 yards.
Missed when the wind was not read but a little KY windage and got my first and last with the rifle.
Today I got one as he hesitated when crossing the road.
 
grew up on a farm in central Alberta.
id put my round count between 60,000 to 100,000 while growing up shooting 22's at gophers.
all brands.
the best ammo for shooting gophers, hands down, no competition is Remington Yellow Jackets.
I know, you get the odd dud but its 22 ammo, your gonna get the odd dud.

the Yellow Jackets cut the gophers in half.

you KNOW when you've hit them, there is a loud KER-THUMP.
most satisfying sound there is.

if you don't care about killing them with one hit then get some CCI Blazer flat nose.
cheapest yet very reliable 22 ammo.

I do love the Ker-thump.

Yellow Jackets are awesome

Agree 100%. They always shot well in our 10/22's with very, very few failures. Tens of thousands of gophers shot here and Yellow Jackets are the best LR.
 
I have ~ a case and a half of yellow jackets left. Very affective but very gun specific. I’m lucky that my cz gopher gun shoots them ok. (1” at 50). Now waiting on pasture to dry to get out and shoot.:)

I reckon it's true at this time. The Remington site shows that this ammo is "Currently Unavailable". No mention of "Discontinued" so there maybe a chance of Rem
doing a game of catch up production on the line to satisfy demand. We can only hope they don't can the Yellow Jackets fer good which would SUCK!!!
