Best .22LR Ammo That Works Good in GSG-16 MP5 Clone ????

CCI mini mags are the gold standard for pretty much all semi auto 22s. I was always a fan of Remington Golden Bullets because they used to be cheap in price but not as low quality as things like Rem Thunderbolts Or winchester Wildcats, but I'm not sure they're being made at this point due to the bankruptcy. I'm seeing Remington Ammo hitting store shelves again but I have only seen centerfire stuff so far.

Thanks very much for the info! Needed to know as just getting back into .22's after not shooting them since my Rem Nylon 66 back in 1986, lol.. Cheers!

Every semiauto 22LR firearm is a unique and beautiful snowflake.

That said, if it doesn't run CCI MiniMags (or the AR stuff, very similar), there is probably a problem with the gun. But the CCI stuff is not cheap.

If you want budget options, you've got to pony up and buy a brick of each of the options you have available and try them. Good news though, the GSG is known to be pretty tolerant.

Depending on where you're located, there are a few deals available on 22lr ammo. Cabelas has Federal AutoMatch on sale, $35 for 325 rounds; and Rangeview Sports (Newmarket, ON) has some Aguila HV hollowpoints on sale:https://www.rangeviewsports.ca/prod...-lr-rimfire-ammo-38gr-cphp-500rds-value-pack/

Rangeview doesn't do free shipping but they're in Ontario so might be close to you, Cabelas does free shipping if they're not close (over a certain threshold of course).

I’m to lazy to go check again but Gotenda has the same federal auto match for a touch cheaper I believe but for larger quantity (3250) and shipping would be free as it’s over $300

Honestly it's a cheap fun range gun, not a tack driver. So fire the cheapest stuff you can get that cycles. It's not a gun that requires high end ammunition. Should be cheap enough to buy several different brands and try them out. But I would just buy a bulk pack, or something like a freedom bucket and just plow through it. Or a couple of different bulk packs, in case one of them doesn't cycle as well as the others. But I haven't heard of the GSG-16's having cycling issues outside the odd Drum mag not feeding correctly. But that's a magazine issue not really much of an ammo issue.

The key point to feeding the GSG-16 is high velocity .22lr going at least 1,200 fps. I find the hotter the better, and cheaper, makes mine run just fine no matter the brand.

After reading of a couple of GSG-16 owners having cracks appear in the bolt carrier, and considering that I generally use CCI SV anyway, I just swapped out the two buffer springs for a slightly lighter set of springs and then tested and clipped them until the gun cycled reliably with CCI SV. It's a plinker, not a 'hunting' firearm, so I don't much care how much FPE I'm getting out of it. Just want it to last and shoot reliably. Of course I also took the magazines apart and smoothed out the guide slots and follower etc to make sure it feeds reliably, as those mags tend to jam.
