Best 22LR for sports shooting?

You need at least two .22 rifles.

One should be a big heavy accurate bolt-action rifle, large scope, meant to fire from a bipod, benchrest or prone, and that will get you the tightest groups at distance. A Tikka T1x or CZ457 would be the most accessible choices here.

The other is for shooting offhand (from your shoulder, weight supported by your own arms) and should be a lot lighter and have good ergonomics (fit well and be easy to hold). Smaller scope, maybe even iron sights or a red dot, accuracy limited by how steadily you can hold it, but very useful away from the bench and bipod. For this a 10/22 is the easiest and most fun choice.

Which to start with may depend on personal interests and local shooting opportunities.
