What is the best bullet you could recommend me for a 308 with a 24" barrel 1-10 twist??

I have tried 150gr nolser accubonds, 200gr nosler accubonds, and 196gr chachinga VLD. All using CCI benchrest primers and IMR 40-64 powder.

Had very good luck with the heavy bullets even though none of my reloading manuals have data for anything that heavy in a 308

What would you suggest??

Target shooting and it's a heavy barrel

I suppose it all depends on what you are trying to do. Are you shooting, paper, steel, game? Heavy is nice for the wind, lighter is great for max velocity. Again it all depends on what you want to do.


I'm using 175gr SMK's over 44.4grs Varget with Fed 210M primers. It goes all the way out to 1000 with no problems and has proved to be repeatable.

Try a 155 gr Nosler HPBT. Put behind this bullet 45.0 gr of H-4895. You will find it a nice round to shoot up to 500 m.
 
I've had good luck with H4350 behind a 208 Amax. Velocity gets up to 2450 no problem. RL15 gets the 208's to 2550 but accuracy isn't anything to comment about. RL17 also performs well with the heavies according to internet wisdom.
