Just wondering which surplus 7.62x39 people are buying at the present time. I'm shooting through some Czech surplus but I'm probably only down to about 500 rds before I'm out.

Is anybody able to do a ranking of the currently available stuff in terms of quality? Its mostly just for <200 yard plinking with the CZ858

I have been using the copper washed Chinese stuff. As accurate as the Czech stuff in my SKS and vz58 and doesn't gunk up the chamber with lacquer. Seems a bit dirtier, though, but that's not much of a problem since it needs immediate cleaning afterwards for the corrosive salts.

Nothing I have ever used has left pieces of casing in my rifles.

Czech is the best stuff and comes on stripper clips, then Russian, then Chinese

Czech is my favorite, when I can get it. I'd check with Budget, they just reopened from their summer break and had some in stock before they left.

personally i refuse to shoot corrosive in any of my rifles. I am using the silver box norinco right now. not on FTF with it in my sks. Picked up a crate for..... 300$ i believe. 1440 rds.

I'm having good performance from the copper washed Chinese stuff I got from CanAmm for $249 - 1440 + free shipping. Not a single dud so far but it does seem to be dirty. Doesn't bother me though as all misurp needs cleaning after.

Wolverine has a good price but wants $85 in shipping

I believe I e-mailed you back this afternoon with a quote from Purolator at about $45.00 IIRC. The online calculator is screwy and we are trying to integrate Purolator into the programing.

copper washed Chinese.......Good stuff just dirty but i use the boiling water method, the only really pain is the red dandruff from the primers

MFS is good...but about 2x as expensive compared to surplus...I find it does shoot quite a bit better tho, and is clean.

Copper washed Russian is probably the most accurate I've used. It smells really weird though. Like no other round I've ever fired.

The Czech stuff is the cleanest though, but as mentioned who gives a $hit because you've got to clean it after.

I have found that the Russian isn't loaded as hot as any of the other stuff I've used. Seems to be able 1 or 2 inches below the others in terms of poi at 100
