I've looked at quite a few websites, in Canada of course, for softpoint and I've only found 3 brands of softpoint.

Sellier and Bellot 123gr soft. non corrosive. brass case

Prvi Partizan 123gr PSP (soft point). Brass case, boxer primed (reloadable). Non Corrosive

MFS 7.62x39 125gr SP. Russian made, Zinc plated steel case, non corrosive.(i can get these cheaper, but can't reload'em.)

What's your experience. I thought of buying the Prvi Partizan.

save the brass and have them reloaded with nosler partisian .308 bullets. if that's possible. I have no experience with reloading these rounds. Friend of mine knows the specs for that, but he's gone for the next month.

plan on killing wolves and coyotes with my sks. Well maybe not wolves, haven't been able to get close enough or a clear shot. Father in-law smokes'em with his 22-250 though.

Thanks for your help. I'm a stranger to this round so facts and no bull plz lol

Remington , Winchester and Federal makes ammo.

I personnaly shot deers with remington 125gr with good results. Now the Winchester ammo is easier to get (le Baron doesn't show the Remington anymore). I never shot the Federal brand because I can't find it here but I would'nt hesitate.

Le Baron Has the Winchester brand but your local store should be able to order it for you.

Get your bore slugged as 7.62x39 is generally .311 but can be a .308 groove diameter. So if you're reloading you'll want to know which to use.

MFS SP are great they srunk my group to 2.5--- 3 inch and they are not more dirty and they are non corrosive i bought a 1000 and it is the only ammo i use in my SKS so i only have to clean completly only every 3 outings... JP.

I know from personal experience that the PRVI stuff works very well on deer. It can be found for considerable better price than Winchester and Remington fodder.

Lebarons has the steel-cased hornady 7.62x39 on sale. Havn't tried it on game yet, but looks like an excellent hunting round.

it is actually quite accurate ammo, i have fired it thru my SKS and XCR with great results out to 200M... others have spoken up about the effectiveness of the Hornady SST bullet so im going to say i have more confidence in this round then the MFS and S&B i have tried so far... still have a new box of PRVI i havent grouped yet but i have heard good things about it in the red rifle forum.

Just wondering if anyone has shot anything other than coyotes, etc. with Hornady 123 grain bullets. Just wondering how those tipped bullets perform on deer.

MFS 125 gr SP should be very lethal out of a SKS or Mini-30, over the chrony they average 2400+ fps with very low SD... JP.

we ant really tell you the best guns like some ammo better then others (even if its the same type and brand of gun) its best to get a few differnt loads a try them out

in 7.62x39 some ammo has .311"(right size for most milsurp guns that use this round) and some use .308" bullets(under size for most milsurp guns but most north american made guns are .308")

i like cast bullet fitted to my guns then i work up loads till i get at least 2" groups at 100 yards

Maybe a local reloading company will step up soon, offering 7,62x39mm hunting ammo.

It's a stupid law that prohibit the export of that ammo in here, but then again they almost all are!

I keep my stash of remington and Winchester for hunting and I bought MFS, Hornady for the trying.. and S&B is next.

We need a local company to step up maby we could email one of canada only reloading outfit to ask.

For accuracy, PRVI out of the box commercial ammo.
