I'm looking for a 7mm bullet for trget shooting at 500 yards. The rifle is a custom Rem M700 with a Weaver 3-9x scope. I'd like to build a load for picking off milk jugs and paper at 500yds, for my own amusement. The load would not be used on game animals.

The bullets I've looked at are the Speer 145 BTHP, Sierra 130 and 150 gr BTHP, Nosler 150 gr BT, and Hornady 162 A-Max. Am I better going with a heavier bullet with a higher BC at lower velocity, or a faster lighter bullet, but with a lower BC. Any advice ?

that 162 Amax is super sleek, and would buck the wind better than a 140ish grain bullet. It would get my vote.

I agree - a well designed 168 gr 7mm match bullet is the answer.

I used the 160 Game king becauase it workeed so well, and was also mu hunting bullet.
The rifle was a light sporter, but still a competition rifle!:D
