I picked up a Ruger 10/22 VLEH. Its bone stock. Its a great little rifle.
I had only 1 range trip with it. It shot the best any 10/22 ive owned has shot, out of the box.
The barrel is very close to the Hogue stock. Free floated you could say, although any flex will have it touching.
Ive read reviews claiming it is not free floated from factory.. Mine is.. although pretty tight to the flimsy Hogue stock.
My range trip was mostly about function testing it since I was going to fire some other rifles.
My question is.. Are you guys getting accuracy with the barrel floated or are you getting better accuracy with pressure on the barrel from the stock?
I hadn't paid much attention the first trip, but had various groupings. Some were clover leafs, some were pretty wide. Im sure it had something to do with putting pressure from the bipod on the stock or not.
I was wondering what you guys were doing with yours to get the best groups?
Thanks.
