I just bought a Sig P226 in .22 caliber and would like to know what is the best possible ammo for it. I was told .22 semi pistol can sometime be picky on what you feed them with.

So to all the .22 P226 owner, I am asking, what is your pistol preference ?

Mine likes federal bulk packs and Winchester bulk packs. I find it prefers copperwashed over lube lead. also run it wet with a fair bit of oil on the slide. Eventually the firing pin on mine peened the top of the chamber. I took off the swell with a small file and that resolved a loading problem.

IMHO, based on trying several brands and configurations, CCI Mini-Mags are by far the best way to go (in a P226).

I found four outstanding elements to this:

1) Crisp Snap when a round is fired as opposed to a Thud. This leads to a crisp and reliable cycling of the slide

2) Relatively clean ammo does not leave bits and chunks of crap inside the gun's nooks and crannies

3) No FTF, FTL, stove-pipes etc

4) Consistently accurate

I am actually looking for a cost effective (aka cheap) source for more of this today.
