kind of a vague question. really depends on the particular gun and application. My 10 22 with green mountain barrel really like CCI mini-mags and Federal American Eagle. They are both dependable and accurate and a good gopher round. These days though I just buy whatever is cheap and plentiful.

Different guns will like different ammo.

Best thing to do is grab yourself 50 round packs from a bunch of different manufacturer's and see what your gun likes best.

standard model , no mods . picked it up last weekend . been shooting win wildcats and having lots of misfires.

I've never used wildcats, but some have told me they are fairly "dirty" ammo.

when you find it (the best ammo) let us know too. Spend a few bucks as posted on different brands and test them out.
I have an older 10/22 and it likes 333 from wallyworld, my buddy, his likes wildcat, another bud, his likes winchester bulk pac hollow points.
Oh yes clean the action too

Wildcats are dirty pigs.

Mine loves CCI Mini-Mags and Velocitors. Accuracy is decent with Yellow Jackets but feeding them is hit and miss. Federal 525 bulk packs are the best balance of cost vs accuracy when Mini Mags can't be found. This is the results from my rifle, yours might be completely different.

Walmart's 333s and Dynapoints are golden for me and a few other shooters I know. Wildcats didn't work well for me either. Thunderbolts just as bad. American Eagle work great too.

Try American Eagle ammo, I've never had a problem with it in ANY .22, be it bolt, lever, pump, or semi-auto action. It usually outperforms its price point.

I never experienced feeding/firing issue with various ammo brand. Althought, I had best results with Lapua Club or something.

Best for what? Accuracy or feeding? I find Federal bulk feeds great, no problems with failure to eject. Accuracy good enough. American Eagles seem to shoot more accurately and also feed and eject well. When I shoot my 10/22 I'm not trying to punch ultra tight groups, I'm more happy if it simply shoots decent and feeds flawlessly. If I can hit those pop up 22 targets most of the time at 75 yards, the ammo is good enough.
