Hey, my non internet compliant buddy just bought a Norc M14 or 305 or whatever they are. He’s asked me to help him find a good quality synthetic stock for it. Maybe something with a spot for bi pod and sling attachments.

I am a German k98k collector, I know nothing about these. So looking for some recommendations.

Thx boys!

The most numerous stock is the USGI fibreglass stock. It needs stiffening on the forend, and the full auto switch space has to be filled.

I still haven't gone back to making M14 stocks in composite..... I know quite a few people were hoping i would but I keep getting other work sent my way and it pays too good right now to switch up the shop.
I would say the "best" composite replacement stock (fiberglass) would be mcmillan though there may be other stateside these days.
The "best" synthetic stock (glass filled nylon) would probably have to go to the Promag Archangel stocks. For the features and price point it's probably a solid option.
The synthetic (glass filled nylon) replacement stocks from springfield are a bit flexy , Norinco's version is much stiffer and probably "better"
USGI glass stocks are getting hard to get now and most these days will require refinishing with some fiberglass skills and repaint. Nice ones do come around but be prepared to spend and buy quick when you see them listed.... don't haggle.... just buy LOL

I am finding that USGI stocks are hard to find in Canada. The US sites I have looked at seem to have plenty of stocks, but they cannot ship to Canada.

Here’s a head scratcher for ya.....

Generally speaking the GI fibreglass stocks are a little looser (wiggly?, flexy?) than the chi-com stocks. But the chi-com stocks jam the stock ferrule HARD into the barrel band, the GI stocks don’t.... which is better/worse for accuracy? Personally I like the GI fibreglass, I can live with a slightly looser fore end for the ergonomics and “feel”.... but the Chinese stock can be trimmed to clearance the ferrule and the front band. Alternatively the GI stocks can be stiffened.

Another really nice, solid option (for a plastic stock) is the Delta M14 Chassis. It’s very close to a black feather but plastic. Wolverine supplies was selling them, back in the fall of 2017, not sure if they still have them. Like all other US made stocks, they fit M1A rifles like a glove, but need some fitting for Chinese actions.

The Archangel is also another stock worth looking at. Very similar in ergonomics to a JAE chassis, but plastic and much less expensive. Again, fitting is required.

Pretty much the only non-Chinese stocks that will require no fitting (for the action to fit) are USGI, but the selector hole is quite large, and most people prefer the hole to be filled.
