Hi, I have Rem. 700 SPS in 30-06..I only use it for target shooting, I am using different brand of factory ammo in 180 gn. I will start to load my own ammo and would like to know what is the best grain of bullets and powder for precision or target accuracy..is light bullets best for accuracy or heavy? what is the best recipe out there please advice..thanks

LOAD b was typo..could not edit it..sorry..

What is your max range? I have had good results with 165/168 gr. As for manufacturer it depend on your rifle and what it likes. that is half the fun in the whole exercise, trying different loads, bullets, seating depth etc. Have fun.

I have used Sierra 180gr BT and H4350 for years. Very accurate. Taken more than a few moose with this load. Another real good stand by is the 165 gr HDY interlock with IMR4831 or IMR 4350. Best luck has always been around the max load in whatever manual I was following. Not very risque' considering the all the hyped up super bullets but I have a very full freezer and lots of paper in the filing cabinet with 1MOA groups

our club has 50,100 and 200 yards..most of the time i will be on 100/200 range.

I have loaded for many 30-06 rifles the one load that is always accurate, and in some rifles I have had will shoot under .5- 100 yard is the Hornady flat base 165 interlock with 57 grains of IMR 4350.

"...for precision or target accuracy..." For target shooting or hunting? Either way, you have to work up the load for your rifle using data from your manual. Meticulous loading techniques are required too.
For target shooting at 100 to 200, a 150 or 155. Out to 600 yards, a 168 grain match bullet. A 175 grain match bullet past 600. All with IMR4064. IMR4895 will do too, but the IMR4064 gives more consistent accuracy. Match bullets aren't cheap though.
Any good 165 grain hunting bullet also with IMR4064, will kill any game you care to hunt.

I had a Remington 700 ADL and it loved 55.5 gr. of IMR 4831 using 150 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip. The best shooting I did with it was a 5 shot group that measured .873 @ 200 yards. I know that the gun shot more accurate than me. Good Luck!

i use a 180 nosler partition over 53.5 h 4350 and cci magnum primer and rem brass. thats my priced recipe. this is my best load i have found yet. recoil isnt bad can shoot alll day long, accuracy excellent .800" or under most times at 200 yards.
