You could almost take any book on Hitler then delete him and the Jews and insert Stalin and the Ukrainians, or visa versa. There are so many similarities ranging from deep seated paranoia, self-delusion, megalomania, deception, charismatic qualities, stubborn determination and persistence, through psychopathic behaviour traits and insensitivity to others. There were also similarities among their minions. During the Yalta Conference Stalin jokingly referred to Beria, the head of the Soviet Secret Police, as `our Himmler`.
The best books about Stalin I read is "Stalin: The First In-depth Biography Based on Explosive New Documents from Russia's Secret Archives" by Edward Radzinsky. it's on amazon.ca (ht tp://www.amazon.ca/Stalin-In-depth-Biography-Explosive-Documents/dp/0385479549) but I'm pretty sure it should be free in electronic format somewhere, at least it's free to read on author web site but it's in Russian there : )
.
Found it:

This would be one very creepy read.I tried reading "mein kapf" years ago and I gave up.Mao's Red Book was just ass bad read. This one looks to be worst by far...
Maybe we should all be reading up on Putin rather than Stalin. Pity the Russian people and many others around them; getting fooked over by various Russian kings, despots, czars and dictators since forever, and it is still going on.
