I will soon be buying a Savage 111 in .270 and plan on buying a few boxes of ammo to start off. Which manufacturer of ammo has the best brass for reloading? I will be shooting 130 grain and hunting deer.

If I was buying hunting ammo with the hopes of having good brass to reload afterwards, Winchester would be my personal choice.
Remington would be second. Federal would not even make the list.

The best brass is the stuff that makes your rifle shoot itsy bitsy groups.
Try a few diffrent brands and find out what your rifle likes.

Every rifle is diffrent and will behave diffrently to diffrent compnents.

I usually start with remington brass and then winchester. I can't stand working with federal brass, it's very hard, trimming takes forever and my arm gets sore resizing it...plus I've never developed a tackdriving load with it.

Most people would start with Winchester. Most brands will work for hunting, but, of the big three U.S. manufacturers, Winchester tends to have the best reputation for capacity, consistency, long life, and just the right hardness.

Federal does work, but the primer pockets soften after only a few loads.

try some Nosler brass if you got some extra $$ kickin around

Ive used it in 223 and 243 and it is very high quality stuff, similar to Lapua, but available in more cartridges, especially hunting cartridges

I agree on the Lapua brass, spendy but very good. While Norma quality is top-notch, I find their brass to be a bit on the "soft" side, thus tends to show pressure signs earlier than does Lapua or Winchester. Regards, Eagleye.

Win is great.
Also saw some Norma 270 brass on the EE, i have some and just love it! Its been reloaded more times than i can count and they still have nice and tight primer pockets!
