Do you have much experience there? Is is easy to get the permits and permissions?

It really depends on the country but if you hunt through a reputable outfitter, they pretty much know the drill. Pretty well all of the land in Europe is privately controlled so it's pay to play.

Bummer. I was hoping for some good news like self-guided on federal land. The reality for me is that most hunting with outfitters is going to be out of my price range. At least I can hunt Alberta through the hunter host program fairly cheaply because my uncle lives in Calgary.

We are pretty blessed in Canada. There is some great DIY hunting in the western USA for elk, antelope, mule deer and even sheep if you can draw a tag. I put in for 17 draws every year and have pulled three tags in the past 20 years.

You're absolutely right on that. My uncle and I are going to be putting in for a lot of draws each year and we are hoping for the best on it. The area where we hunted I had the option of General White-tail and Antlered Elk (3 or more points) but antlered mule deer and moose were only by a draw. There are plenty of areas for mule deer, white-tailed and elk without a draw too. Moose on the other hand..
