Best budget rangefinder?

I use a Bushnell Scout aswell as a few friends, non of us have ever had any problems with them. If you ended up buying a Bushnell rangefinder, don't forget there's a 25% mail in rebate on all of them right now

At the local Cabela's there are two mounted black bears with dark fur. For some reason the Bushnell G Force DX rangefinder in the store refuses to give a range to either of them, but the brown bear with lighter fur beside them is fine, as is anywhere else in the store. Interestingly none of the other rangefinders (Leupold, Vortex) have a problem with those bears, which sort of turned me off the Bushnell.

My only beef with the Vortex 1000 is that it's noticeably slow to return a reading. The Vortex 1500 is way faster, and quite a bit more expensive.

Having tried the Kilo 2000, the auto-brightness feature is pretty sweet.

With the current 25 days of bushnell deal I would suggest checking some of their stuff out while the sale is on. I picked up a pair of the 8x32 rangefinding binocs cause the price was crazy after rebate.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, this forums can be very helpful. I need a rangefinder fast I'm getting tired of spooling out a 100 yard spool of paracord every time I setup the targets lol.

I have nothing but good things to say about the SIG Kilo 2000. If it's in your price range (and there should be some deals on them with the 2200 and 2400 being out) it's hard to beat. It'll range reliably to well past 1000 yards and it is fast.

I would not buy any bushnell range finder. My friend has a g force which does not provide the horizontal distance. It gives a lot unwanted information but my zeiss hd5 rapid z does not need bushnell to do the calculations.
Leica, on the other hand, gives the horizontal distance, as well as other data
