Best bulk ammo

I find Blazer works best in all my .22s when it comes to bulk ammo. Haven't seen the 525 boxes on shelves in a few years though, glad I bought several back when the aftermath of Sandy Hook was going on...

It depends on the rifle, but I have a decent amount of Win dynapoint in the white box that my CZ's love. Fed 525 bulk works well in my Henry's. And my Buckmark chews through M22 accurately and reliably. Also lucked out on a good lot of Fed automach that is better than average last time I found it on sale.

Everything I own (4 rifles and a pistol) eat Federal 525 Champions like candy; all of them shoot way better (super tight groups) though on Federal Auto-Match 325.

I am a big fan of the Federal 525 bulk packs. All my .22s shoot it quite well and it seems to be priced less than some of the other bulk boxed stuff out there if you can find it. Sad to say I used to be able to buy them for $16 each...lol. Oh well that's not the world we live in anymore. If you can find it less than $35 your doing pretty good.

Cci for sure. I don't get to pay bulk prices for it anymore. 12 cents a shot for 1070 fps. That 9 cents a shot from the ammo source is a good price for cci. Thanks for the heads up.

I can say what ammo I am unimpressed with. The Remington bucket ammo. Got 1400 shots for 110 bucks shipped to my front door. It's accurate enough but it's slimy. I can see the fat ring of sludge it has left behind on a see through 10/22 mag. Now I just shoot it through my XT 22 target. Works just fine. But was jamming up the ruger eventually (and my 22/45.) Both were failing to feed. The nose of the cartridge was getting stuck in previous rounds sludge. The XT 22 bolt actions I have fed them just fine.

What size "super tight groups"? What distance?

Federal Automatch: Iron sights from a bench rest, 5 shots, just over an inch at 20 M; with a scope or red dot from a bench rest, same hole 1/2 -3/4".

Federal Champion 525; about double that with one or two fliers, 2-3" outside the cluster.

I am going to try some of the fancy expensive stuff to see if these can be tightened up a little more; but right now, for fun, 525s for more serious shooting, Automatch.

BTW, there are 4-6 light loads in every 100 of the Champion, much better consistence with Automatch.

My CZ452 Scout with Nikko 3-9X50AO scope can do one-hole .30 inch (edge to edge) groups at 15 meters with Winchester 333, 36 grain, 1280 fps copper washed hollow points. Shooting from a cheapo Zero rest. I bought this Scout last year with an unmolested trigger AFAIK. Trigger remains untouched.

I would think that even Remington ammo could do that.;) Seriously, at 15 yards or meters the bar is not very high. Most any ammo should be able to do that.

grauhanen, dont'cha think the best way to handle these "bulk ammo" posts, is to simply snicker at the ludicrous claims of accuracy and then press the *back* button? Keyboard snipers gunna be keyboard snipers...

I mean, we have "super tight" defined as 1/2"-3/4" at 20 meters... I think I also saw "one hole" being part of that description. There is no hope for this crowd... I'm throwing any barrel that shoots 1/2"-3/4" at 50 yards in the garden.... never mind 20m.... If it makes them feel good to describe their shooting in this manner, who are we to take that away from them?

Lol I agree...

I can usually get under 3/4" every group at 50 with my mk2 fvsr. I can also get 3/5 groups udner 1/2" at 50. I'd be pissed if I was getting those sized groups at 20.....

Favourite plinking ammo of all time was the Russian Biathlon stuff available from Century arms (or was it International Import  )
Stupid cheap, and darn accurate!

These days... it's the Winchester Dynapoint

I do find the federal 525 reliable in any of my 22s but nothing I'm happy with accuracy wise. The winchester 333 or 555 bulk I won't even touch. Dirty, FTF and FTE. Automatch is ok but still don't make any of my 22s tackdrivers by any means. I've honestly given up on bulk ammo and all I buy is CCI. Standard velocity if I'm trying to shoot for accuracy (less than 1/2" groups) and CCI mini mags for hunting (which will still shoot between 1/2" and 3/4" groups) at 50 yds. I know I'm paying quite a bit more than bulk ammo but I just find any of the 8 or 9 22s I've owned are just not accurate enough for my liking with bulk.
