I just bought a savage bvss 223 in 1-9 I am wondering which would be a decent bulk bullet for cheap practice. Also would like to know which match bullet works well.

I found that the Speer 52 grain HP bullets work very well out of my Savage VLP.
They are available in a 1000 bulk pack.

I like Hornady 55 grain Vmax as a "match" bullet. I have 200 Sierra 69 BTHP match bullets on the shelf, but haven't gotten around to trying them yet

Withing the context of precision shooting, there is no benefit to "practicing" with one cartridge (particularly bulk ammo) and using something different for greater accuracy.

Have fun with the bulk ammo...that's what shooting is about, but there is little to be learned from it.

The only way you'll find out which match bullet works best is to try it in your gun. What my gun likes may be way differant to what your gun likes. That goes with the bulk buy. Don't buy 20,000 bullets only to find out they won't shoot good in your gun.

Least expensive bullets that will still be decent in accuracy are the ARMSCOR and PRVI FMJ's.

then you can go PRVI match bullets. Not shot any yet but they look very much like Sierra MK's.

The Hornady 75gr Amax and BTHP, Sierra 69MK, Hornady 68gr BTHP, Berger 70 and 75gr VLD. Nosler is pretty much a Sierra clone and less money. They have shot well for me in 30cal.

For LR shooting, the 75's are the best with the Amax and Berger tops of this list.

But there is only way to find out what works best.

You can always sell the stuff that doesn't shoot to the AR guys. :D
