just curious which design is considered to be #1? always liked the look of the 1874 sharps in 45-90.

I own two Shiloh Sharps rifles, and I have one about to be built.
One of these is a 45=90, which is a great cartridge.
A lot of long range shoots are won with the 45-90 I can can vouch for it's knockdown power when the right weight bullet over 500 grains and alloy 30 to 1 is used.
It's also a fairly easy cartridge to load develop for.
You start by finding the proper OAL for the particuler bullet you'll be using, then its just a matter of finding the amount of powedr the rifle likes.
Go for a Shiloh if you can find one.
Peds are great, but a Shiloh is not all that much more money.
My best group yet was 3/4" @ 100 yards, and I've only been shooting a Sharps for less than one year.
