Thinking going back to rimfire; I had a Rem. .22 and then a 10/22 Ruger.I'm incline to go on with the .17HMR.What do you suggest considering best value for the money. All I do with my rifles is 50/100 yards paper punching but I would like to have a real tackdriver.
Thanks.

Savage

I think for the $$ you can't beat the Savage 93RFV. I picked mine up from Wholesale and have no complaints so far. However don't judge the rifle's ability by my postal scores. I have been trying different ammo to see what it likes and I hope to better my scores this weekend..

Cheers

How would the Savage compare to a CZ ?

Bonsoir!

I have a CZ 452 American heavy barrel in 17 HMR and I really like it!
The rifle is bone stock and superbly accurate right out of the box, but you can improve it with different upgrades awailable.
I got mine chez Latulippe, but all they have right now is sporter weight barrel with sights.
I can show you mine next time I go to Beauséjour if you want!
Regards,
Eric

Win,

I can't say I have had the opportunity to try a CZ452. They are listed on SIR for $550 vs. the Savage at $289.

I'm sure the CZ is a quality rifle !!

I have read some great reviews of the Savage rimfires, and I don't think you can beat the value for the $$. My Savage is still so new that I haven't even had time to play around with the Accutrigger.....

I would suggest this analogy... CZ = Ferrari , and Savage = Corvette

H&R Sportster in .17 HMR. Fantastic value. Shoots right along with the higher priced jobs.

Ugly as stink, but...

Cz 452

The CZ 452 is faaaaar better rifle than the savage!! I have owned both and now just have the 452 varmint. The bolt action on the Savage is loose and tough even after 200 -300 rounds. The accuracy of the CZ is incredible for out of the box. Also compared the CZ to the Ruger varmint 17HMR and was suprised to find out that the Ruger was not free floated like the CZ was. Did not shoot the Ruger but the action was smooth on the CZ and the qaulity is miles above the Savage. Just my 2 cents;)

I own the Savage 9317BVSS. Custom stock, bedded, trigger job etc. If I was to do it again, no question it would be an Anschutz 1717 or CZ 452. The older I get, the more I like the refined rifles. I have noticed the cheapies have prettty much vacated my safe over the years.

I won't be selling my savage 17 just the same though. It's too much fun

I have shot plenty of 17hmr rifles including savage, marlin, remy, ect. I have found that they are ALL tackdrivers. Each one has different qualities that you may or may not like. The H&R is a single shot while the marlin has a 7 shot magizine. Pick one that you like, put a good scope on it and you won't be dissappointed!!!
