If you're going with a red dot I suggest NEA upper, holds zero and lowest profile upper out there.

NEA. Ive never had issues with returning to zero. Just dont put a sparc on it and you are good to go!

I've used the Busnell TRS-25 on top of the NEA railed upper handguard for a couple of years without issues at all. Always held zero.

Any idea where I can find the NEA upper handguard? SFRC is out and I don't feel like paying $120 extra for a lower handguard I don't want.

This. With a Bushnell TRS25 you can actually get full cowitness with the factory iron sights. Absolutely love this setup.

Nothing beat a tapped and drilled side mount. Thats what I did with mine. Yes it makes taking it apart a little more complicated, but if I didn't want complicated I wouldn't have added any extras to it.
