Been trolling to do a bulk buy of .30-30 ammo.
Not picky on grain, prefer the 170gr (if you can't shoot far anyway you might as well hit hard!) but can be any really.

Not seeing much using the google.
Local guy has Federal 170gr at $19.99 for 20 rounds which is the lowest I've seen anywhere so far.
Looking to buy about 240 rounds to stock up for a long while as it just keeps going up in price.
Any dealers out there?

I keep checking out the ammo whenever I'm at Walmart. They were clearing out old stock/discontinued Remington 30/30's at 14 bucks per 20.

I'm looking at the wholesale prices while reading your post.

That's a pretty decent price.

If the seller was willing to order you a whole case (200 rounds) as part of their restocking order you might (read "might") be able to shave a buck a box if their total order is large enough to get them free shipping, otherwise @ about 20 bucks a box they aren't sending their kids to college on what they are making off a few boxes of shells :)

Aye,

That's what I was thinking.
I may just pick him up at that offer.

I don't plan to shoot more than 10-20 rounds a year of it lol
Thanks all.
Also reloading is out of the question. Too time consuming right now/not even feasible.

WSS has Winchester Super X power point 170's for $20 a box. How does this ammo compare to Federal? Does the flat nose affect the Ballistic Coeficient
too much?

Up until about 2years ago lever sold it for $11 a box, not any more though

Yes it was much cheaper not only a little ways back.
I remember seeing it priced the same as good quality .223 Rem for a box of 20 less than 3 years ago.
Hence why I'm going to be stocking up and buying enough to last me the next 30 years lol
Before the price goes up to .303 Brit insanity.
Thanks for the across the board price check guys, will be buying it all up at $19 a box then while the getting's good.

I reload the ftx lvr combo. Expensive compared to casting but I drink the Hornady koolaid that claims it as a 308 lite

lol Aye, hey if you load 150gr you can mike it up to about 2,300 FPS but not much more.
Hornady also has a 110gr .30 cal V Max projectile that you could easily get up to 2,600 FPS but it won't travel too far very accurately by projectile design.

It can be a ".308 Lite" if you're under 200 meters ;)

I put 34 Grains of LVR behind the 160 grain FTX which is the sweet spot for my Win94. I haven't chrony'd the load so no FPS info. Sorry if I'm turning your Commercial thread into reloading but I've read other posts (by H4831?) that load it hotter than the max. I'd be interested to hear pet loads for the LVR/FTX combo.

200 meters is all I want out of a deer hunting round, especially with irons. There are better calibers for long distance IMHO. Since my 3030 is a hunting rifle, I use at the range what I use in the field. Still well under $1/per which is ok with me for a premium round.

No no issues at all.
I got the answer already lol WIll be cleaning them out of $19 a box :D

It's a great cartridge for under 200 meters. Especially with the light compact rifles that feed it. I don't reload but still interested in hearing how far some of you crazy reloaders push the round to without failure as well.

I've asked ammo supply the last couple years, no go. I ended up with the ability to reload for it. I'm also using FTX but IMR powders, Hornady and Federal brass .. stay away from Winchester for the most part.

Yeah, at Cabelas today I checked and it started at $22.99 for Winchester silver box. Then went up by a $1 as the ammo got better.
Usually Walmart or CT will have Federal or Winchester for 18.97 or so. But I think this past year they went up to $20-21
