Don't go to Crappy Tire, bought some of the Remington cartridges from there, price was 22 bucks or so and then a week or so later I realized they charged me 30 bucks.
"...surplus .303 ammo?..." The supplies of decent surplus .303 ammo dried up long ago.
"...the first day..." HAHAHA!! Gun shows here in Ontario, where most of the country's population lives, run from 0800 to noon on Sunday's only about every other month.
get a hand loader. lee makes them and they are simple to use. avoid any POF ammo as it like to click bang or hang fire. handloading also prepares you for when you get other milsurps in odd caliber. im going by experience wihth milsurps

i grabed an old enfield recently as well and i bought 5 boxes from Canadian tire (federal, wincheser, remington) and i also ordered my lee loading press so now i have 100 brass to start loading with....seems the only way to get half cheap .303....
I was in Walmart a few weeks ago shopping for ammo here in London. The north end store had 10 boxes of Federal 150 grain 303 clearance for $14 per box.
I bought them all!
Good luck in your search for cheap 303! If you find it, keep it to yourself till you've bought it all! (then you can brag about it on the internet )
