Wondering what everbody's thoughts were on the best factory ammo for the CZ Shadow for IPSC.
Brand and bullet weight?
Thanks

Jeff

I don't own a shadow anymore,...but have some info on what top shooters use.

JP Ithink now is using a 147gr bullet, although to win the 2009 Nationals I think he used 124gr bullets. Cliff Meek used a 147gr bullet,...
Not sure what Nick King uses..?

Matt Mink uses a 124gr,..while I think Angus uses a 124gr as well?
Adam Tyc is sponsored by an AMMO company in CZ, which makes 124gr ammo.

Factory ammo is always going to have higher velocities. I prefer 147gr factory ammo over 124gr factory ammo,..although the147gr winchester will have a slightly higher PF,..it still feels better in my stock2 tanfoglio. I use some 147gr factory for practice, and use 147gr Canadian BDX ammo to finish off my practice and use in matches. (factory is about 144pf, while BDX is about 136 pf)

Don't use 115gr, other then that you are going to get pretty much the same feel between different brands of 124gr and 147gr bullets. Winchester is known to be a bit hotter, i.e. more recoil, but generally all 9mm 147gr ammo will subjectively show less muzzle flip then similar 124gr ammo.

But if you really want to get competitive, start loading yourself or buy commercial reloads. You could shoot almost two times more for the same money.

UMC 115 grains gave me a scare at an IPSC match. About half did not make power factor.

Edit...that would be power factor for production (125).

I don't shoot factory often but I did do some testing at our range. At 15 yards Win Ranger 147 gr FMJ wouldn't hold six inches out of any of my 9MM guns including my Shadow. Stuff is awlful in IMHO and I wouldn't buy it for practice ammo. The latter is the reason the RCMP have it ie for practice. From my experience all it is good for is seeing if your firing pin still works. Aside from price, why the RCMP buy it is beyond me. They should kow better.

Take Care

Bob

ive used fiocchi 115, american eagle 115gr and 124gr, sellier and bellot 124gr, and am about to try some combat masters (BDX) 124 gr reloads.

All work great in my shadow. like the s&b!

I have had "0"complaints from different users of 30,000rds of 124gr bdx ammo.
You won't be dissapointed.
