As the title states I'm looking for your opinions on the best flying hunting bullet in the 200 gr range for a .300 Win Mag.

Up until now this rifle has been on a steady diet of 180 gr Nosler Accubonds with pretty good accuracy but the rifle is being blueprinted and rebarreled so it will basically be a whole new rifle.

I am looking to the heavier bullets because I do a lot of long range shooting so longer, higher ballistic coefficient bullets are preferred.

I'll probably start testing with 200 gr Accubonds because they should fit the bill and I have about 150 of them around but I am looking for experienced opinions with the heavier bullets.

Thanks in advance,

Ivo

My personal preference in any 30 cal Magnum is the 200 grain bullet. The 200 Accubond shoots awesome in my 30-338, built on a Winchester M70 Pushfeed action. I usually can keep 3 shots under ¾" at 100 meters, and that bullet 'graphs just shy of 3000 fps. Arrives at 500 with plenty of oomph left. Regards, Eagleye.

I have found that the Sierra 220gr roundnose shoots like a match bullet out of my .300 Win Mag. I can get less than 1" 3 shot groups on a steady basis. My best so far is a .29" cloverleaf.

69 to 70 grains of IMR4831, Rem. brass, Win LR primers. (max load, so work up to it carefully) 2795 fps over my chronograph.

I loaned my rifle to a friend this spring for hiz grizzly hunt. He never got a griz. He took a black bear at 260 paces. Bullet took out both shoulders and the top of the lungs, and kept going.

You know as strange as it sounds I have a win mod70 in 308 that really likes these bullets too.

Now if wholesale ever fills its backorders I'll be shooting them in the savage 300WM I ordered, like I intended to when I bought them.

i've used seirra game kings 200gr and found them to be very accurate but i would also consider barnes 200gr which i think are a hollow point. the barnes 180gr hollow point are my staple ammo now. i've recover bullets which still have about 98% bullet weight and near perfect expansion.
