What shoots consistently for you? Say maximum of $35 for a box of 20. I already have some Rem Core Lokt 130gr PSP and would like to buy two or three others before I head to the range. I know every rifle shoots differently, but I'm hoping someone can share their experience, which will help me narrow down what to buy. Before anyone says it, I don't hand load and never will. Thanks guys:)

for me it is Federal Blue Box 150's that shoot the best out of my Rem. ADL 270...for hand loads 130SST's where close but the cheap Federals did just as good or better.

Personally, I have never had any luck with Remington ammo in any rifle but that's me. My .270 likes Winchester grey box (power point) 130 and the Winchester supreme even better but they are above the price you mention. Always had decent luck with federal as well.

O.P. - what's that in your avatar? A wolf eel?

i bought a package deal of 14 boxes last year of cheap 150 fed blue box. shoots under an inch in my rem but didn't shoot better than an 1 1/4 1/3/8 in my tikka. have to try to know.

Hey, nothing personal but a useless thread.

most major brands are reputable an reliable to a degree, they will all go bang, mostly.

as you mention, some like , some don't.

try some!

It's not useless to me. Why chime in if you have nothing to offer...................:jerkit:

Oh...............nothing personal;)

My 270 has never fired a factory round, so cannot comment on that. I do know that it really likes the 130 and 140 Accubond, so perhaps some factory ammo loaded with these. [pricier, though]

Regards, Dave.

The factory ammo that shot the best out of my win. m70 .270win. is Winchester 130 grain PP for around 20 dollars a box. Never killed a deer with it but I am sure it can get the job done. The other factory ammo that shot the same at 100yds was federal gold box 150 grain seirra BTSP @ 1.00-1.25 inch group not sure what the federal goes for. Shot two deer with this bullet did not do very much damage , I like the 140 btsp hornady better but these are reloads but are not as accurate .

Thanks guys:)

After a lot of research, I have it narrowed down to the following, all of which are in stock at Cabela's.ca:
1) Hornady American Whitetail 130gr SP (Interlock, flat tail) $30
2) Federal Premium Vital Shok 130gr Sierra Game King $34
3) Hornady Superformance 140gr SST $36

I included number 3, because my buddy's Sako A7 7mm-08 shots a very tight group with the HS 139gr SST, while another buddy's Sako Greywolf .270 Win doesn't shoot the tightest groups with HS 130gr SST (I was the one shooting the latter).

Any experience, regarding these three bullet types, for whitetails, out to 300 yards, would be greatly appreciated:)

I read an article by craig boddington using the new ruger american rifle in .270 and the hornady american whitetail. He had some very impressive results. IIRC they did most of their shooting at 300-500 yards to test the zeiss rapid-z scope. I was quite surprised how well they were doing at long range.

I tried Winchester 130 & 150 Silvertip in my Browning bolt action. It preferred the 130s.

I sold the rifle, but have just discovered I still have some factory ammo. The Winchester white box has 3 rounds missing from the accuracy test.

The CIL has 2 rounds missing.

two of the old Winchester boxes are full.

You can have these 80 rounds for $80, shipped.
