Hi, there seems to be alot of videos about changing a Remington 700 trigger.
What is the clearest foolproof set of instructions out there ?

I have had a catastrophic owner induced failure I need to fix.

Unfortunately it was broken while attempting to get a jammed trigger lock off

It's pretty simple. two pins need to be removed... assembly swapped out for the new one, pins replaced. You have pictures to show how the ejector and spring sit. This swap is done easier if you make slave pins to install the trigger. The slave pins hold the sear in place when the trigger housing is not in place... the slave pins push out when the retaining pins are installed. For one experienced in doing this describing how to takes longer than to do it.

Thanks, I followed along with a couple of install videos, but it looked like the wrong sizes punch was used as it marked up the gun.
Wanted to make sure the wrong lunch was the only issue.

Bahahaha, what a amateur mistake. Note to self, don’t buy from FCD with these amateur smith skills…….. did you seriously break the trigger off

Some people shouldn’t work on firearms
This is literally one of the easiest triggers on the market to swap

This isn't off topics Sir.

Ban trigger locks !! 1 Broken trigger is too many.

Jeez I used knives and screw drivers to remove trigger locks that I forgot the keys, but never broken a trigger.

Where is 3Mac1 to say how crappy Remington is?

Unhooked the springs first, to relive the pressure on the trigger assembly, and pins.

Wasn't my best moment.
Thanks for the tip about the springs.
I usually disassemble things with springs in a big zip lock bag.
Saves parts from flying around.

I have some 700 triggers and parts... some triggers are complete and tuned up to crisp, safe triggers... $85 includes mailing which costs $30.

OP,

If,installing an XMark trigger (as per pic) (MIM'd JUNK) group back into the receiver-
Make damn sure that the sear spring in installed correctly or failures will ensue.

Basically-
Insert the trigger group into the receiver.
Insert the shorter pin from LH to RH side & seat the pin below flush as NOT to bind the bolt stop.
Install the bolt stop into the receiver.
With hemostat/forceps grab the bolt stop torsion spring by the short leg behind the coil inserting the spring under the bolt stop while capturing the bolt stop & spring w/ the longer rear pin inserted into the receiver.
Swing the trigger group up into the receiver pushing the rear pin in to capture the tripper group.
Leave the rear pin proud of the bolt stop.
Done
elapsed time... 1 minute or less...once you've done thousands!!

Just revisiting this thread.
Some people have class, and some are like this.

Trigger replacement went smoothly, and I'll still ask questions I don't know the answers to.

I’m sure you can manage it. Just use the right size punch and work from the correct side for the pin you are removing/installing. Use those YouTube movies as a guide.

It really is a very simple job with the right tools.

Oops. Just saw you already resolved this issue. And you’re right - more than a few d0uchebag5 on this site. Glad it worked out for you.

Buddy sent some shooters down a few years back to put on my tables at the local gun show.
One was a presteen Winchester Model 61 in 22mag.
The trigger guard was messed up.
I asked wtf he did tewwer?
Trigger lock.
Cuddint find the key.
Pried the lock of with a screwdriver.
But why?
Dint know if it had ammo in it.
Bud it's a take down.

If you don't know, well, you don't know.
Xpert's dint git that way over night.

Now iff'in that Chappeau Noire could tawlk.....................:onCrack:
