Best handguard and vertical grip options

There is no such thing as "best". Depending on what your intended role/goal for the rifle is, your preference for materials, your budget, and personal tastes are, the options are endless. If you're looking for a specific result(goal based accessories) than some options will be better suited to the task. If you're selection is based off looks and personal choice then it makes no difference. If it makes you happy run it.

Pretty happy with it.

Best handguard and front vertical grip options for an AR with 16 inch barrel?

Well... I used to like AFGs and vertical grips, but now I just use a Gear Sector handstop and a nice set of rail panels with a good texture/grip. I currently use a mix of Tango Down and UTG rail panels with the GS hand stop (as they're the same width/height as the GS) along with some ladder rail protectors and LaRue index clips. The only vertical grip I use is a LaRue LT-Fug in the stubby configuration on my Kriss Super-V.

Very nice. Simple and effective.

Roll over to ar15.com and search the forum for all the options. It may take several days but I'm sure you'll get some ideas. ;)

I'm aware of that site/forum, but prefer the CGN option. Thanks, anyway.

Who sells the MOE gear?

Quite a few sponsors have them, Questar, Wolverine and I think One Shot tend to have them in stock...

I like my Daniel Defense Omega handguards, I'll probably get them again for my PDW and DMR build

Edit: I like the Magpul RVG and AFG2 vert grips, but I'm looking forward to their handstop kits, I found the others are a little pricey for a little metal nubbin

I have used tonnes of Vertical grips and ended up preferring either gripping the Magwell for my AR's or a Magpul AFG.
The AFG for me has given the most stable hold on the Rifle. I have not tried the Magpul RVG, but have one on order for my Kriss. That's my 2-bits.

So you wanted opinions on rail systems then decide you're going with the MOE line. So why ask for options/opinions?
TDC

Pretty sure the request was (is) for handguard and vertical grip options, rather than specifying rail systems, but in any event, I'm not averse to hearing opinions about them. I didn't say I was going with MOE either. I am left wondering why you care. Three posts on the thread without offering a suggestion on a rail, handguard, grip, etc? Bored much? :)

handguard would include mostly rail systems as the selection for drop in vanilla plastic handguards is rather slim. Your last post regarding vendors carrying Moe gear led me to believe you had decided on them. In any case you haven't indicated what your intended purpose/role for the rifle is so its impossible to offer suggestions that would best fit the role.

I'm partial to free float systems for the benefits of zero Poi shift when firing from support. In addition an extended Ff protects the gas block and gas tube better than plastic handguards. This is of course if you run a low profile gas block. If you stick with the stock fsb then an ff is still a solid option. If you don't desire or need the protection and/or lack of poi shift then something like the Moe line is more than adequate.

As for caring I really don't. Its your rifle and your money. However I was curious if you were looking for opinions and options or simply looking for others to validate yours. Such actions seem to be the norm.

See, this is useful commentary. Good stuff. Thank you. :) My AR doesn't see much action from a fixed position or from support, so maybe the free float is not that important.

I hadn't made any decisions when I posted the thread. Was just looking for options and opinions, as I said. My AR is stock right now, with the M4 style round handguards. I might run a set of new gear for one season and then switch to something else entirely. The beauty of the platform and a little disposable cash. :)
