I'm looking at making my first purchase of a hangun and wondering what manufacturers provide the best warranty and service in Canada. One of the guns I'm considering is a Beretta but I haven't been able to find an Official Canadian Service location. I am also looking at IWI 941 Jericho. Thanks for any advise or help.

Beretta warranty is handled by Stoeger. Usually pretty good, sometimes parts take a little time to get in.

The Jericho warranty would likely be done by Freedom Ventures. While I don't have any experience with their Jericho related warratny coverage, the provid eexcellent support for their STI and Tanfoglio guns.

I wouldn't worry about the warranty service too much, although it's a valid concern.

I was taught that one of the most important considerations is how the pistol feels in your hand. Also, make sure you can reach the trigger and other controls comfortably.

It seems no matter how good the warranty service is that usually in Canada there is a pretty long wait for parts. I have a warranty claim in with S&W (Who provide very good coverage) but it's been 3 months and still no parts.

Buy a glock. Things don't generaly go wrong with them and if they do parts are cheap and easy to install as well as readily available.

Had good experience with Beretta Canada (both warranty and order parts). Provide information, wait a couple weeks, done.

Also had excellent experience with Gravel for rifles but if interested in Remington 1911 would expect same service.

Had bad experience with CZ & Dan Wesson through CRAFM (was good when London Arms - cracked plastic mag box on CZ452, sent photo and receipt, received new mag box in mail, send them old mag box, done).
  • CZ: 3, 6, 12 months... eventually receive parts (in interim had spend the 5 minutes on the net to find them from a third party, 5 minutes assembly - 10 minutes in total to resolve the issue which was less time then to explain and followup things with CRAFM).
  • Dan Wesson: Provide information once, couple month and forgotten about, provided information second time, couple of months and forgotten about, provided information a third time... was told cannot offer warranty service as cannot find parts (BoMar out of business). Find the parts for them. Have to provide information fourth time (receipts, photos...). Then was instructed to to mail pistol back and forth as they cannot simply mail a screw to me... However, are willing to sell a complete replacement sight and ship that to me if pay full retail...(cheaper locally and on line). Were unable to comprehend why it would not make sense (cost and risk) to ship a >$1,500 pistol across the country twice when could simply send an envelope with a screw in it...

Was sufficiently frustrating dealing with Tara / Frank / CFRAM (JF was good but was no longer there to work with) that I would not support their business or purchase a product for which they are the warranty centre. No reflection on the product (purchased when London Arms was warranty centre), am happy with the DW CBOB, DW PM7, CZSP01 Shadow, CZ452, CZ453, but CRAFM is out.
