Hello Folks. I want to use my SKS as a brush gun for whitetails and so I want to set it up such that my eye will automatically line up with a red dot scope on a scout mount. The original laminated stock is too low for that to happen so I am looking at the various lace-on / strap-on cheek rests available. Anyone have experience with a good one? I am concerned that most are made for full-sized stocks, i.e. 5 1/2 inches wide at the butt plate, rather than the smaller SKS stock that is 4 1/2 inches. Cheers

Don't own one, so can't offer a personal review opinion, but Brass Stacker has a good rep.

I stretched a repo M4 leather one with cheek pocket on my Chicom sks. It works and is screwed to the butt stock with 2 screws (it won't move at all, very solid.) I don't know if it will give you the lift your looking for though.
I had to soak it in water and slowly pull it closed with the lacing over several weeks, then and only then did I screw it to the stock. I did this primarily because the sling swivel on the Chinese sks interferes with my cheek weld (friggin buckle in my mouth!).
