London story short. I shoot left, mostly blind in my right eye and refuse to shoot a right handed semi auto. So my question is, which LH shotgun do you have and how do you like it? I've really narrowed it down to two..... But am open to any other suggestions. The LH benelli sbe2 and left hand beretta a400 xtreme. Both have good recoil reduction, aren't too heavy, reliable, same price tag. I've never shot either in a lefty though, so I'm curious as to what they're like! I've shot right handed super Vinci and sbe2 and liked both! I'm currently shooting a benelli super nova pump gun.

Between those, go with the Beretta A400 IMHO. To be honest, as a lefty, I shoot right-hand semi-auto shotguns. When I need parts, they parts are in stock. For lefty stuff, you wait months. In use, there is no difference.

Don't know what the best one is, but I'm thinking about an a400. Curious to see what you choose and what you think of it.

Citori 725 :)

Otherwise I have a left hand 11-87, purchased used, that has never disappointed me, though I'd not mind a longer barrel for it.

I have both the SBE and the A400. I waterfowl hunt extensively in all sorts of conditions and situations running from fields to flooded timber. Both guns are exceptional and both each have their benefits. For muddy, dirty, wet and cold swamp conditions the takedown of the benelli make cleaning super easy and the reason why I lean towards it. The receiver separates allowing access to everything. Inertia system runs cleaner too. The A400's recoil less but in hunting situations you never notice the recoil anyways, unless your sensitive. They definately swing differently with the beretta being more 'twitchy' and the beretta being more fluid. Beretta handles light loads easier although my SBE cycles 1 oz without any issue. Beretta handles every load you can put in it.
Both guns are awesome but what I would say is go for whatever one "feels" better as it is usually an indication of what will shoot for you better. In terms of performance they both slay birds. One is no better than the other however my vote is the benelli. My wife votes the beretta. She's probably a better shot too but I'll never admit it.

I forgot to mention I too am a southpaw. I switched to a left hand SBE2 and found no real benefit. In fairness I actually sold it and bought a right hand model again. I like the ejection port on the right side as it allows me to throw a shell in quicker (totally a conditioned motion) with my support hand. I never notice shells or gas coming out in my face and see the price discrepancy going for a left model as an issue. The only thing I do is switch to a left recoil pad on the SBE. As for the A400 I use it stock in right and love it.

This season saw over 100 birds come down and not a single issue with either gun. Now go get one and kill some birds!

There's also the LH Benelli M2 and it's almost-identical (and much cheaper) twin, the Franchi Affinity. I've been using the Affinity for a couple of months now, both at the range and in the field, really love the light weight, manageable recoil, dependability and pointability.

The right handed A400's come with the proper shims to give a left-handed butt stock cast, so clearly Beretta designed it to also work for left-handed shooters.

I bought a Hatsan escort autoloader this year and put it to the test as my go to waterfowl gun this season and was vary impressed. I put over 2 flats of shells throu it and never had even a hick up, i never give it more then a quick wipedown and I hunted ducks while into January this year. I'm not saying the Hatsan is better then the sbe2 or a400 but not a bad gun for $860

Benelli SBE II in LH. I have a SBE I in RH that my father now uses. It's personal preference alongside fit/feel. The Benelli fits me better it's much nicer for shells to fly out the left side of the gun than the right side as a left handed shooter, hated getting debris in my eyes.

I don't think the hatsan comes in a LH model but I've been using another Turkish gun for the past couple years that is a lefty. The Armsan 612. It's ran flawlessly for me. I have no trouble recommending it to anyone.
Had I not recently got bitten by some odd bug that is making want a lh a400. I wouldn't part with the one I have.

Where did you get your hands on the Armsan? I've heard many Turkish shotguns accept Beretta mobil choke tubes...can you confirm if the Armsan also uses mobil chokes

I shot a beretta xtremaII right hand model (left handed shooting) with the shims set for left handed. I had a Kent shell slow burn one day and when the wad got to the gas port it ejected the shell, which was still combusting, and sprayed a puff of sulphury smoke and powder across my face. The wad stayed there in the barrel just past the gas port. I was unhurt. Sold the gun and bought a cameo Cynergy.
I like the way the sbeII feels in the hands, so if you want a semi I'd get that. I didn't know that the a400 comes in lefty though - cool!
